The brass panels making up this minimalist box are remnants from a recent project - as they were handled in the shop, they naturally collected an array of smudges and fingerprints. For a typical project this would be carefully removed, the surfaces brushed and sealed - but the color patterns had taken on the quality of brushstrokes and we just sort of fell in love with it. The surface will continue to evolve over time, aging to a nice mottled patina. Natural oiled walnut gives structure to the box and a nice material counterpoint to the brass.
