We've amassed a stack of smaller slabs this month with lots of character ~ splits and checks and rich textures too good to plane away. To stabilize the tops and keep them from splitting further, we used hardwood keys - opting for geometric shapes over the typical butterfly. Three splayed, faceted legs are attached with classic stick-chair joinery.
